Thách thức của Fintech dưới tác động của Đại dịch

Khi đại dịch COVID-19 tiếp tục tạo ra sự không chắc chắn, nhiều fintech đang bị ảnh hưởng trên một số mặt. Tuy nhiên, khi nền kinh tế rộng lớn hơn chuyển từ “phản ứng” sang “phục hồi”, các cơ hội mới có thể được tạo ra cho một số fintech. Một câu hỏi quan trọng là làm thế nào các fintech có thể tận dụng các tài sản và năng lực của họ để nắm bắt các cơ hội mới trong tương lai. Đó có thể là thời điểm thích hợp để suy nghĩ lớn và mạnh dạn hành động.

Tất nhiên, mối quan tâm trước mắt nhất là quản lý tình trạng bất ổn hiện tại. Nhiều fintech, giống như phần còn lại của hệ thống tài chính, đã hoạt động quá sức để ứng phó với cuộc khủng hoảng. Nhiều người, bao gồm cả các công ty insurtech và proptech, đang huy động vốn và tài trợ từ các nhà đầu tư và người cho vay. Những người khác đã thực hiện các biện pháp tiết kiệm chi phí, bao gồm cắt giảm lực lượng lao động. Bởi vì doanh thu của nhiều người trong số họ là dựa trên giao dịch và khối lượng, một chiến lược ưu tiên ngay bây giờ là đảm bảo rằng càng nhiều chi phí biến đổi càng tốt và chi phí cố định được giảm thiểu.

Các fintech cho vay đang nhận được rất nhiều yêu cầu của khách hàng về việc miễn trừ và cứu trợ, cũng như để được giúp đỡ trong việc đảm bảo các khoản vay cho doanh nghiệp nhỏ được thiết lập bởi Chương trình bảo vệ tiền lương (PPP) của Đạo luật Hỗ trợ, Cứu trợ và An ninh Kinh tế Coronavirus (Đạo luật CARES). Tương tự, các fintech tập trung vào thanh toán và tài sản đang củng cố cơ sở hạ tầng của họ bằng cách mở rộng năng lực hoặc đầu tư vào các nguồn lực mới để chịu được áp lực cho hệ thống của họ từ khối lượng giao dịch cao hơn. Những hành động này có thể đặc biệt khó khăn đối với các fintech phụ thuộc vào khối lượng giao dịch để có doanh thu và do đó hiện đang thiếu tiền mặt.

Đối với insurtechs, việc giành được sự chú ý của các nhà đầu tư dự kiến sẽ còn khó khăn hơn, do số lượng công ty khởi nghiệp đã có mặt trên thị trường. Và việc thu hút người dùng cuối có thể sẽ không dễ dàng hơn khi các công ty bảo hiểm chuyển trọng tâm sang các nhu cầu tức thời và quản lý chi phí sau khi bùng phát COVID-19.

Điều kiện thị trường hiện tại và thực tiễn xa rời xã hội cũng đã ảnh hưởng đến tăng trưởng kinh doanh của proptechs, và nhiều người trong số những người đầu tư vào bất động sản đang bị buộc phải tạm dừng hoạt động của họ cho đến khi rõ ràng rằng họ sẽ có thể bán bất động sản. Các proptech khác, để giữ chân khách hàng của họ, đang giảm giá và các ưu đãi hấp dẫn để giữ chân khách hàng.

Ngoài những cân nhắc về tài chính và hoạt động chung hơn này, mỗi loại fintechs đang đối mặt với một số thách thức riêng. Ví dụ, nhiều công ty cho vay trực tuyến đang thắt chặt các tiêu chuẩn bảo lãnh phát hành của họ để duy trì chất lượng của bảng cân đối kế toán và giảm thiểu bất kỳ sự gia tăng nợ tiềm ẩn nào. Họ cũng có thể sớm nhận ra rằng dữ liệu lịch sử mà họ sử dụng để đưa ra các quyết định bảo lãnh phát hành có thể kém tin cậy hơn trong môi trường ngày nay và họ sẽ phải điều chỉnh mô hình của mình cho phù hợp.
